First time blogger

Well, this is the first time that I have created a blog - I do however spend a lot of time reading Robert Peston's blog on the BBC to keep up to date with things in the financial world - not sure if that counts really in blogging terms!

I am currently lecturing at Abingdon and Witney College in Oxfordshire. I teach a wide variety of courses from A'level Business Studies to professional management courses. There is one upside to the economic downturn in my line of work as there is always lots of interesting stuff in the news - as I write this blog I am on tenterhooks to see if the MPC lowers base rate again (actually I am not that sad in real life!).

I also teach on the Foundation Degree in Communications in Organisations and our college team would love to expand the range of learning options available to our adult students to ensure that our model is as flexible as possible; on-line tutoring could well be a key element of our future offering.

In terms of my history, I used to be a corporate banker in the City - quite glad that I have left that profession if I am honest in the light of current issues. I then spent a few years in San Francisco where I was a lady of leisure whilst studying for my Diploma in Management (distance learning) and starting a family. My three children are now all at school (although off today for a snow day) so I am really looking forward to developing my new career in education.
